CONDUCT RITES FOR OSAGE MAN
JOHN KRAPEK, 45, WAS BORN IN EUROPE;
DIED IN MINNESOTA HOSPITAL

OSAGE, IOWA – Funeral services were held at the Champion funeral home here Sunday afternoon for John Krapek, 45, who died at the Worrall Hospital at Rochester, Minn., following a year’s illness with heart disease.

Born in Blatniea, Czecho-Slovakia March 17, 1893, he came to America to join his father when he was 15 years old. He was married in 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, where he was employed in the Ford Motor Company. Two children were born, Frank and Helen. His wife died in 1924.
In 1928 he was married again and two children were born, Joey and Mary Ann. They have lived in Osage since 1930.

Surviving are his widow, two brothers, Frank of Detroit, Michigan and Joseph of Canada, and two sisters; Mrs. M. T. VanVoorhis of Osage and Mrs. Joseph Laga of Blatnica, Czecho-Slovakia. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Note: his first wife was Christene Kovarich and his second wife was Sophie Strotz, the widow of Joseph Matejecek.

His World War I Draft Registration:
Highland Park, Wayne, Michigan gives his birth date at February 27, 1893, and the Obit says March 17, 1893.
