HAZEL A. BETTS

OSAGE, IOWA - Hazel A. Betts, 78, of Osage, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Hazel was born on October 3, 1922, in Osage, the daughter of Perry and Anna (Popp) Weaverling. She attended schools in Osage.

She was united in marriage to Ervin "Bud" Betts on November 21, 1942, and they farmed in Mitchell County until moving to Osage in 1979.

She was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church for many years and then became a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church after moving to Osage.

She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she also loved her flowers.

She was a resident of the Faith Home for several years and will be missed by her friends and the staff that were there.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Tesch and husband, Dennis, of Osage and their two children, Richard Tesch and his wife, Kellie, and Christine Tesch, and Sandy Herrick and her husband, Jerry, of Osage and their two children, Staci Herrick and Jason Herrick; three brothers, John Weaverling and his wife, Cleone, of Osage, Melvin Weaverling and his wife, Marianne, of Osage, and Marold Weaverling and his wife, Janet, of Osage; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dylan, and Jake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin in 1993; and two brothers.
