JOHN WHITLEY SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK
Osage – Funeral rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral home for John Whitley, 54, son of Dr. R. L. Whitley, Mitchell County coroner. He died suddenly Sunday morning at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital from a heart attack. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Born November 1905 in Osage, to Dr. R. L. and Gertrude B Whitley, he was graduated from Osage High School, Grinnell College and the School of Business Administration, Harvard.
He was employed at General Mills, Minneapolis, in the advertising department, and in Chicago. He came back to Osage three years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, and son, Dirk, Highwood, Ill., his father, Dr. R. L. Whitley, and two grandchildren.

John Chase Whitley was born November 26, 1905 in Osage, the son of Dr. Ralph Lee Whitley and Gertrude Bell (Whitaker) Whitley.
