Elva Hope (nee Hubbard) Loomis 1866-1949

Osage, Iowa – Funeral rites were here Monday for Mrs. Hope Loomis, 82, who died Saturday at Cedar Valley hospital following a stroke. She was born July 27, 1866, in Nova Scotia, to P. and Annie (Fielding) Hubbard. She came with her parents to Osage as a young girl, and was married to Frank Loomis in 1884.

The couple established their home in Osage, then lived in Des Moines, Lincoln, Nebraska, and again in Osage.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1933 and since that time she has lived in Osage until two and one-half years ago, when she went to the Star Home at Charles City. She was a member of Congregational Church and of Eastern Star.

She leaves four children; Mrs. H. A. Sayre, Ames; Mrs. C. A. Bolton, St. Charles, Ill.; Mrs. J. Walter Jones, San Francisco, Cal.; and Mrs. Glen Whitaker, Minneapolis, Minn; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

FORMER RESIDENT
DIES AT AGE 81
IN CHARLES CITY

Funeral services for Mrs. Hope Loomis, 81, were held Monday morning, April 11, 1949, at the champion Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Osage Cemetery. The Rev. Risse officiated.

Mrs. Loomis died Saturday, April 9, at the cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, Iowa. She had made her home at the Starr Home in Charles City the past two and one-half years.

Hope Hubbard was born on July 27, 1866, in Prince Edwards island, Nova Scotia, to P.W. and Annie Fielding Hubbard. They came to Osage when she was a young girl.

In 1884 she was married to Frank Loomis. She was a member of the Congregational Church and took and active part in its activities. She was formerly a member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. H.A. Sayre of Ames, Mrs. C. A. Bolton of St. Charles, Illinois, Mrs. J. Walter Jones of San Francisco and Mrs. Glen Whitaker of Minneapolis. There are also five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her husband and five children: Francis, Hazel Arthur of Hampton, Loring, Marian and an infant son, all preceded her in death.
