JOHN KRONES

Funeral services for John Krones, 93, of Osage, who died Wednesday, February 22, 1984 at White House Nursing Home in Osage, were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Osage. The Rev. George Hope officiated at the service, with burial in the Osage Cemetery. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Matthew Krones was born on October 6, 1890 in New Haven, Iowa, the son of Hilarius Henry and Katherina Schmidt Krones. He lived his entire life in this area.

John Krones and Alice E. Herron were united in marriage on November 23, 1910 in New Hampton, and farmed in the Osage area until moving to town in 1935. In 1936 they established their home where he remained until he became a resident of the White House Nursing Home five weeks ago.

He was an employee of the City of Osage for 33 years and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Lester and Dean of Osage; one daughter, Mrs. Leland (Janet) Sellers of Ankeny; one brother, Joseph of Osage; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; one son, John Jr.; six sisters, Katie, Anna Severson, Clara Michels, Susan Nichols, Mary Morrissey and Elizabeth; one brother, Henry; and one great-grandchild.
