OSAGE, IOWA - Jerald Sullivan, age 82, of Osage, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, November 28, at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Jerald Duane Sullivan was born on June 1, 1928, in Mitchell County, near Osage, on the family farm home located on Sugar Hill, the son of Harold V. and Marie (Schweiger) Sullivan. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School, New Haven, in 1947.

Jerry served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, and was stationed in Washington, D.C. He was on the honor guard for military burials at Arlington National Cemetery and guarded the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

After his service, Jerry came home to farm with his father, Harold. Jerry was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of the Osage and Riceville American Legions and served two years as commander of the Riceville Legion.

He was also a long-time member of the Minnesota Black Angus Association. Jerry enjoyed raising cattle, trips to the Dakotas and Montana and visiting at the local coffee shops with friends.

Jerry is survived by three brothers, Keith, Mark and John and two sisters, Dorothy and Mary; nephews, nieces and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
