MABEL SIMPSON
OSAGE - Mabel Simpson, 91, formerly of Osage, died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) at the Presbyterian Homes of Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, Minn., of natural causes.
Mabel was born May 24, 1909, at Postville, the daughter of Alonzo and Hazel (Harris) Folsom.
Mabel was united in marriage to Ray Simpson on April 6, 1929, at Albert Lea, Minn. They made their home on a farm between Osage and Orchard. Mabel also worked at the Osage Memorial Hospital for a time. Ray passed away in 1973.
In 1974, Mabel moved to the Minneapolis area, where she did volunteer work at the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, Minn.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and various church groups.
She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her and how much she loved life.
The funeral will be held at noon on Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage, and will continue one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by four sons, Jerry Simpson, of Duluth, Minn., Dean Simpson and his wife, Jackie, of Excelsior, Minn., Keith Simpson and his wife, Karen, of Minnetrista, Minn., and Don Simpson, of Le Sueur, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leone Morrison and her husband, Max, of Osage, and Grace Havlicek, of Monona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; and one son, David.
