STACYVILLE RESIDENT
DIES, HEART ATTACK
George Gerhart, 72, one of the best known citizens of Stacyville, died suddenly Wednesday [Jan. 12. 1944?] from a heart attack. Shortly after noon Mr. and Mrs. Gerhart went to the Stacyville Bank to buy some bonds. They returned home, put the car in the garage and had started for the residence when Mr. Gerhart fell, dying instantly.
Mr. Gerhart spent all of his life in this county. He was reared in Union township. Following his marriage to Gustie Doscher of Carpenter, they established their home in Stacyville and had since lived there. Mr. Gerhart owned farm property in that neighborhood, which he supervised.
Surviving are his widow; his sisters, Maggie Gerhart and Mrs. Laura Anderson; his brother, Adam Gerhart, and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Gerhart, and other relatives. Adam and Maggie live on the home farm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at the Union Presbyterian church and burial will be in the cemetery there.
