Hattie Vivian Woodward – July 10, 1870 – January 13, 1946

FORMER ART AND MUSIC TEACHER OF OSAGE DIES

Osage – The body of Harriet Woodward was brought to Osage Monday from Mt. Pleasant where she died Sunday afternoon at the state hospital, where she had been more than a year.

Born July 10, 1870, daughter of Otis and Ellen Sawyer Woodard at Milwaukee, Wis., she came to Osage as a young girl with her parents. She was graduated from Osage high school and from a specialized art course at the Cedar Valley Seminary. She taught several years at the Cedar Valley Seminary in music and art, also at LeMars, Des Moines and points, specializing in art and violin.

About 1916, she moved to Des Moines with her father following the death of her mother. She lived with her father in Des Moines until his death then came to Osage to be with her nephew, County Clerk Donald Tuttle, later going to Monroe to be with her sister.

Surviving are 2 sisters; Olive Woodward Ogg at Monroe; and Alice Woodward Jenkins, Wheaton, Ill.
Deceased is her sister, Flora Mae Tuttle, famous naturalist.
