CLARA EIDNESS

OSAGE, IOWA - Clara Eidness, 97, of Osage died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) at the Faith Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Clara was born Sept. 17, 1902 in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Kari (Walvatne) Blockhus. Clara took care of her parents until they died. Then she worked at the cafeteria at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She worked as a domestic for the Wolff family in Mason City until her marriage to Elmer H. Eidness on June 9, 1960 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Mason City.

The family suggests memorials may be given to the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Ave., Osage, Iowa 50461.

She is survived by six nieces, Verna Brandt and her husband, Ernest, of Waverly, Norma Hanson, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Shirley Larson of Nisswa, Minn., Bernice Baird and husband, Gerald, of Ventura, Calif., Helen Wright, of Wausaukee, Wis. and Myrtle Nettleton, of Peshtigo, Wis; six nephews, Don Blockhus and his wife, Wanda, of Los Altos, Calif., Robert Blockhus and his wife, Jane, of Eau Claire, Wis., Harlan Blockhus and his wife, Eleanor, of Northfield, Minn., Kenneth Blockhus and his wife, Harriet, of Elgin, Kenneth Berg, of Porterfield, Wis., and Edwin Berg, of Porterfield, Wis., and cousins in Norway and here in the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; three brothers, Ole Blockhus, Swen Blockhus and Michael Blockhus; two sisters, Emma Berg and Marie Mary Arno; and two nephews and two nieces.
