AGED RESIDENT OF NEAR OSAGE SUCCUMBS AT 96
Osage, Iowa – Funeral services for Ben Berger, 96, oldest male resident of Mitchell County, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Little Cedar Cemetery. He died Sunday at a hospital in Mason City.
Mr. Berger was born in Switzerland, December 6, 1856. He came to the United States in 1881. He was married to Minnie Wolff** in December 1905. They lived in the Osage community all their married life. He followed the occupation of mason and carpenter.
His wife died in January, 1944, and in January, 1950, Mr. Berger went to the Falk nursing home at Stacyville where he remained for care until the last three weeks of his life which were spent in the hospital at Mason City.
There are no surviving children.
