Herbert Lee "Bert" Cornwell (1875 - 1924)

Bert Cornwell Died
of Pneumonia
Tuesday Afternoon

Bert Cornwell passed away at his home Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, following only a few days of severe illness, and the news of his death comes as a shock. Several years ago he underwent an operation, and has been troubled since that time, and so when pneumonia developed he did not have the proper strength to combat the disease.

"Shorty," as he was affectionately called by his friends, was known by all to be a man of the highest principles, was a good husband and father and as a Workman was unequaled for his industry and honesty. He has worked at the Gardner nursery for more than twenty years, and ran the machine at the old Lyric theater during the time it was in operation, and was at the Colonial theater for a couple of years, practically doing the work of two men during those years.

He was the son of Mrs. Eliza Cornwell, and would have been 50 years old** this coming June.

He is survived by his wife and his children: Cyril, Gladys and Mildred; by his mother, Mrs. Eliza Cornwell, two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Markham and Mrs. Nora Dalzell, of Stewartville; and by three brothers: Roy, of Minneapolis, Ray of California, and, Leslie, of Osage,

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from his home and in the local cemetery.

** Maybe just 49 years old.
