MRS. GODFREY FUNERAL HELD
FORMER OSAGE WOMAN WAS CHARLES CITY RESIDENT LAST 5 YEARSOsage – Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Stiles Lessley of the Osage Congregational church for Mrs. Josephine Godfrey, 79.
She died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs, Kenneth Clow in Charles City, where she has made her home the past five years.
Born in Hebron, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin, she came to Osage as a young woman and was married to William Godfey who died in 1926. She became a member of the Congregational church January 5, 1896.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Clow of Charles City and a sister, Mrs. Jeanette Minor of Charles City.
Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.Mason City Globe Gazette, Friday November 14, 1941

Josephine (nee McLeary) Godfrey was born July 1862 -- (1900 US Census-Iowa),
the daughter of Joseph McLeary and Mary (Armstrong) McLeary. She married William J Godfrey 1839-1926.
