MRS. CARL KNUDSON

OSAGE, IOWA – Funeral services for Mrs. Carl (Olea) Knudson, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral Home. She died Saturday morning in Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Knudson, a longtime practical nurse, had been a resident of the Osage Nursing Home for more than three years. She and her husband lived near Orchard until his death in 1922.

Surviving are two sons, Russell, St. Louis, and Ole, Rosamond, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Martin (Marcella) Wetter, Osage; Mrs. Eugene (Jewell) Harding, Kirksville, Mo., and Mrs. Arnold (Helen) Hackbart, Manly, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Olea (Johnson) Knudson was born October 11, 1882 in Mitchell Co., Iowa; the daughter of Ole Helgeson Johnson and Bertha Jenson according to the 1925 Iowa Census. Her parents are buried in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

She married Carl Knudson 1879-1922, the son of Ole Knudson and Carrie Olson.

Olea Johnson was born October 11, 1882 on a farm in Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Helgesen Johnson and Berthe Jensdatter, the youngest of their ten children. Olea was baptized on December 24, 1882 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her baptismal sponsors were: Askaug Naig, Tosten Iverson, Ingeborg Iverson and Isabella Johnson. She was confirmed at RCLC on July 10, 1898.

1885: Oley H Johnson 52, Betsy Johnson 47,Helena Johnson 20, Kenstian Johnson 17, Louis Johnson 15, Johan Johnson 13, Carl Johnson 11, Julias Johnson 7, Maria Johnson 5, Olea Johnson 2.
1895: Oleah Johnson age 11.

Found in the 1900 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Bertha Johnson 62, Helen Johnson 35, Olea Johnson 17.

Olea married Carl Olsen Knudsen on September 15, 1903 at Mitchell County, Iowa.

The couple had seven children:
Clyde Oswald (b December 9, 1904, Floyd, IA; d Aug 26, 1940. Burial: Orchard Cemetery, Orchard, Mitchell, IA);

Bernard M (b October 31, 1906, d January 1907);

Russell Bernhard ( b September 23, 1908, Floyd, IA, d September 23, 1965 possibly South Dakota);

Ole Harold (b June 22, 1910 Floyd, Iowa, d October 12, 1982 Lancaster, Los Angeles, California);

Marcella Ruby (b March 28, 1913, Floyd Co, IA; d Feb 1994, Osage, Mitchell Co, Iowa; married Martin Wetter (born Dec 1, 1912 Iowa, d Aug 10, 1998 Mitchell, IA ) Their son: Edward (b 1944, Mitchell Co, IA; d. 1944, Mitchell Co, IA. Burial 1944, Orchard Cemetery, Orchard, Mitchell, IA);

Jewel Regina ( b November 9, 1915, Floyd Co, IA, d July 5, 1987 Kirksville, Adair, Missouri) and

Helen Pauline (b March 19, 1920 Floyd, Iowa, d May 4, 1994 Austin, Mower, Minnesota).

1910: Carl Olsen Knudsen 30, Olea Knudson 27, Clyde O Knudson 5, Russel H Knudson 2[3], Axle Smith 22.
1915: Olea Johnson Knudson age 32
1920: Carl Knudson 40, Olea Knudson 37, Clyde Knudson 15, Russel Knudson 12 , Oleo Knudson 9, Marcela Knudson 6, Jewl Knudson 4.

Found in the 1925 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Olea Kundsen 42, Rusel Kundsen 16, Ole H Kundse 14, Marcella Kundsen 11, Jewell Kundsen 9, Helen Kundsen 4.

Found in the 1930 census at Floyd, Floyd, Iowa: Olea Knudson 47 widowed, Clyde O Knudson 25, Jewell R Knudson 14, Hellen P Knudson 10.

Olea Johnson Knudsen died July 13, 1963 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, and was buried at the Orchard Cemetery, Orchard, Mitchell, Iowa.
