Eric Kroneman always dreamed of being a teacher. He pursued that goal and graduated with a teaching degree in 1997.
While working toward his master's degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, he taught social studies to seventh and eighth graders in Parkston.
"He enjoyed trying to find a way to make what he was teaching interesting," said his mother, Bonnie Kroneman of Sioux Falls.
Eric David Kroneman, 24, of 47552 Neener Circle, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at Sioux Valley Hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Kroneman spent many hours preparing and organizing materials for his students. He especially enjoyed teaching history, and had his students do many hands-on projects to help them learn.
"He wanted to make history come alive for the kids," said Kroneman.
When he wasn't teaching, he spent most of his spare time as a youth group leader at his church, Wesley United Methodist.
He helped with the junior high and high school youth ministries and was very active as a youth church camp promoter. He also worked as a camp counselor at various times.
Eric was born on October 3, 1974, in Medford, Wisconsin. At the age of four, he moved with his family to the Sioux Falls area. He attended Brandon Valley elementary and graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 1993. During high school and college Kroneman worked in the catering department at Sunshine Foods.
He was a very giving person and always made clear to his family his wish to be an organ donor. "We know there are people out there who will live because of him," his mother said.
He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, with a master's degree from University of South Dakota in July of 1998. He was currently working as a substitute teacher in and around Sioux Falls.
He was a member of the South Dakota Education Assoc.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his father, Larry Kroneman of Sioux Falls; his twin brother, Peter of Sioux Falls; maternal grandparents, Harry and Doris Winter of Canby, Minnesota; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, with burial in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
George Boom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
