CLARA SETER
OSAGE, IOWA - Clara Amanda Christina Seter, 95, died Friday (April 16, 1999) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Clara was born on February 7, 1904, in Hartland Township, Worth County, near Northwood, the daughter of Knute G. and Gunhild (Holte) Bakken. She was baptized at the Silver Lake Lutheran church in rural Northwood. She was confirmed at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Kensett, by Pastor Thor Sigmond.
Clara was united in marriage to Clifford C. Seter of Kensett on March 25, 1924, in Kensett by Pastor Thor Sigmond. Clifford and Clara farmed near Kensett until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Mitchell. They farmed near Mitchell until moving to Osage in 1975. Clifford C. Seter Sr. died on Sept. 17, 1996. Clara was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Martha Circle and the Ladies Aid.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 19, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and will resume an hour before services Monday at the church.
Clara is survived by three daughters, Grace Janson and her husband, Edgar, of Belmond; Mildred Jennings and her husband, Francis, of Orchard, and Marcella Larsen and her husband, Clifford, of Mason City; one son, Clifford Seter Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Charles City; 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford C. Seter; her parents; four sisters, Ella Gunderson, Elma Olson, Esther Bliton and Olga Nelson; two brothers, Gust Bakken and Melvin Bakken; one infant granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
