Glenna Hastings
Funeral services for Glenna M. Hastings of Elma were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma with Monsignor John Hemann officiating.
Burial was in the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Lourdes, IA with Jack Hastings, Dan Hastings, Mike Hastings, Bruce Hastings, Mark Hastings, Chad Hastings, and Jamie Hastings serving as casket bearers.
Friends were to call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma where there was a 7:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation was also an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Glenna, 81, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Colonial Manor in Elma.Glenna Mae Hastings was born September 13, 1923, at Little Cedar, IA the daughter of Fred and Verna (Graves) Hill. She was a graduate of Little Cedar High School. During high school she played on the basketball team. Glenna was later united in marriage to Robert Hastings. The couple farmed near McIntire and moved to a farm east of Elma in 1952. Glenna was a school bus drier for 28 years for the New Hampton School district and worked at Sara Lee. Declining health forced her retirement. Glenna became a resident of the Colonial Manor in Elma in June 2002. Glenna was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the rosary society.
She enjoyed shopping, going to farm sales, and gardening.Glenna is survived by five sons: Jack (Betty Jo) Hastings of Alta Vista, IA, Dan Hastings of Waterloo, IA, Mike Hastings of Elma, IA, Bruce (Joyce) Hastings of Lawler, IA, and Mark Hastings of Elma, IA; daughter-in-law Susan Hastings of New Hampton; a step sister Virginia (Forrest) Ellison of Osage, IA; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Gary Hastings; granddaughter: Jonalie Gorman; half brother: Fred Lyle Hill; two step brothers: Marian and Charles Young.
