Funeral services for Robert W. Hartwig, 61, a retired Osage businessman were Tuesday, January 3, 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. Reverend Belk officiated at the service with burial in the Osage Cemetery. Military rites were presented by American Legion Post 278. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He died Friday, January 27, 1984 at an Iowa City Hospital.

Robert William Hartwig was born December 15, 1922 the son of Walter A. and Frieda Tresemer Hartwig. He received his education in the Osage schools, graduating in 1940. He served his county in World War II for three years.

On November 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to Bernice Dean Schiager in Osage. He was employed at Rex Lockers for 10 years. He then became self employed in his own business, Osage Meat Market, for 29 years, retiring in the past year due to ill health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and two grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; one daughter, Mrs. Loren (Barbara) Bechtum of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lester (Joanne) Decker of Osage.
