OSAGE RITES HELD FOR MRS. AZUBA HOWE, 75

Osage – Funeral services were conducted at Champions funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock for Mrs. Azuba Howe, 75, who died Friday at the State hospital at Independence. Services were in charge of the Rev. Stiles Lessly. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Born Azuba Seeley in 1867, she went into the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Doudna at the age of 12. In 1890, she was married to Ed Howe, and they resided near Little Cedar, coming to Osage in 1898.

Two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Malloy of Des Moines, and Mrs. Marie Gibson of Primghar, and one son, Max Howe of Battle Creek, Michigan, survive. One son, Milton, and her husband preceded her in death.

OBITUARY--

MRS. AZUBA HOWE
DIES AT INDEPENDENCE

Mrs. Azuba Seeley-Howe, 77, daughter of Helen and Charles Seeley, was born near Madison, Wisconsin, on November 1, 1866. She died at the State hospital, Independence, early Saturday morning, February 20, 1943, after an illness of many years.

Mrs. Howe was left without a home when a young girl and was taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Doudna, where she lived for 12 years.

She was married to Egbert Russell Howe, January 1, 1889, and two years after their marriage they moved to Osage, living on south Seventh steet for many years.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Howe -- Mrs. Mildred Malloy of Des Moines; Mrs. Albert Gipson of Primghar, and H. M. Howe of Battle Creek, Michigan. A son, Milton Howe, preceded her in death several years ago.

She is survived by the three children mentioned; also by 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, the latter dying three years ago.

Funeral service was held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Stiles Lessly, pastor of the Congregational church. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
