Hubert L. Dieterich, age 82, of Osage, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2010, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Hubert was born June 18, 1928, near Rudd, Iowa, the son of George and Wilma (Erdmann) Dieterich. He attended country schools and graduated from Rudd High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Betty Mathiesen on May 23, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osage. Hubert then served in the U.S. Army for two years at Ft. Riley, Kansas. After his military service, they returned to the family farm. Hubert retired in 1990 and they moved to Osage. He belonged to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for 47 years, the Osage American Legion and the North Iowa Vintage Club. Hubert enjoyed collecting antiques, his 1951 Studebaker, taking newlyweds on their first ride in his 1925 Model T Ford, traveling and bus tours.

Hubert is survived by his wife, Betty Dieterich of Osage; his son, Gary (Susan) Dieterich of Rudd and their son, Curtis; one brother, Fred (Ardis) Dieterich of Osage; two sisters-in-law, Irene Thompson and Doris North; seven nephews, Maurice, Mike and Jim Dieterich, Douglas, Darwin Dennis and David Thompson; and one niece, Debra Barclay.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Dean Thompson and Martin North, Jr.
