MRS. MARTHA BRUS FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY
May 2, 1974

Funeral services for Mrs. Ralph (Martha) Brus, 74,who died at the Care Center in New Hampton,IA Thursday May 2, were held in St. Bernard Catholic Church here Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Father L. Paul Ouderkirk was celebrant of the con-celebrated mass and assisted by Father Herbert Tegeler of the Immaculate
Conception Church, of Elma. Diane Brus was lector.

Conway Funeral Service had charge of Arrangements. Interment was in Mt.Calvary Cemetery.

Six grandsons, LeRoy, Lyle and Dale Ries, David, Randy and Norman Brus served as casket bearers.

VICTIM OF STROKE;

Mrs. Brus, a long time resident of the community, never fully recovered from a stroke she suffered in February of 1957. She was a patient at the Care Center since November 1967.

A daughter of the late Lambert and Margaret May Brost,Martha was born near Stacyville, IA February 5, 1900. At age 11,she moved to this community with her parents and resided on a farm south of town.

On November 16, 1921, she was married to Ralph Brus at North Washington, IA.
He preceded her in death December 30, 1958.

The three children born in this marital union survive. They are Mrs.Raymond (Ardell) Ries of Elma, Dr. Roger Brus of Libby, Montana, and Quentin Brus of this place.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; three brothers; Ernest, Leo and Lawrence
Brost , all of Marshfield,WI; four sisters; Mrs. Aloysius (Loretta)
Griesbach of Rozellville,WI;Mrs. Joe (Isabelle) Folz of Stratford, WI; Mrs. Henry(Dorothy) Linzmeier of Auburndale, WI; and Mrs. Gus ( Delphina) Bleichrot of Muskego, WI.

Besides her husband and parents , she was preceded in death by one brother
Delphin Brost and two sisters; Mrs. Mike (Christine) Nosbisch and Mrs.William (Stella) Schmidt.

Mrs. Brus was a long time member of the Rosary Society of St Bernard Church and ladies of the Society attended the final rites corporately.
