OSAGE, IOWA — Garfield Moody, 71 well known Mitchell County farmer and cattle feeder, died Sunday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, following surgery Thursday. The body is at the Champion Funeral Home here, and rites are pending.
Born on November 6, 1882, at Toeterville, Mitchell county, Iowa, to Alexander and Mary Moody. At the age of two came with his parents to a farm which his parents purchased, located directly north of Osage, where his sons now reside.
He was graduated from Cedar Valley Seminary, Osage, and in December, 1905, married Grace Towner of Osage. They retired to Osage a few years ago.
He leaves his wife, two sons, Marshall and Robert, Osage; one daughter Mrs. A. Natvig, Santa Monica California; eight grandchildren. p
Preceding him were two brother and one sister; served either a president or secretary of thie Mitchell County Fair association for 40 .years; chairman of the loan board and of the board of directors of the Osage Farmers National bank; served as president of the Cooperative elevator for many years; served long tenure as Mitchell county trustee
