OSAGE - Rose Evelyn Hungate, 88, of Osage, died Thursday (Sept. 3, 1998) at the Faith Home, in Osage.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1998, at the Osage Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Melhorn officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Rose Evelyn Hungate was born on Dec. 23, 1909, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of John and Alma (Churchill) Anderson.

She attended schools in Barnum, Minn., and Marshall, Minn. She later worked at Iowa State University in Ames, before marrying Harmon Hungate in 1934 in Boone. To this union was born a son, Walter, in 1940. He died in 1988.

They farmed in the Ames and Spencer areas, then moved to their farm near Osage in 1953. Harmon Hungate died in 1981. Rose continued to live on the family farm until moving to the Faith Home in August of 1998.

Rose enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, working on her farm and many outdoor activities.

She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Rose is survived by three grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Hungate) Fox and her husband, Don, of Osage; Kirk Hungate, of Osage; and Jennifer (Hungate) Morrison and her husband, Aaron, of Lake, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Judi (Hungate) Oudekerk, of Buffalo, Minn.; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harmon; one son, Walter; two sisters and five brothers.
