Funeral Tuesday for
Retired Manager of
Mitchell County FarmOSAGE - Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Lutheran Church for George Chinn, 65, former manager of the county farm for 17 years. In charge will be the Rev. T. P. Solem, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Mitchell.
He died at his home Saturday after a long illness.
Survivors include his wife; three children: Chester of Omaha, Nebraska, Mahlon, at home, Dulcie a nurse who has been caring for her father; and one sister, Winifred, Osage.

George Hubert Chinn and Helga (Berg) Chinn were custodians of the Mitchell County Home for many years. Helga and George were married October 4, 1909 in Osage. He managed a farm in Rock Township. They moved to Kermit, North Dakota in 1914 and remained there for ten years before returning to Mitchell County.
They had three children: Chester, Mahlon, and Dulcie. Dulcie married Howard Angell. She was a private nurse for Mr. Cudahy, owner of Cudahy Packing Company, for many years. Chester and Mahlon both left Mitchell County; Chester was in Omaha, Nebraska in 1946, Mahlon was still in Osage.
George and Helga were both buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell, Iowa.
George was the son of George William and Mary Ann (Campbell) Chinn, born March 27, 1871 at Mitchell. He had a brother, William and a sister, Winnie, both older than he was. George William Chinn was born in 1840 and died August 26, 1991. Mary Ann Chinn was born January 29, 1850 near Stoughton, Dane Co., Wisconsin, the daughter of Michael and Mary Campbell. She died June 20, 1930 in Osage, having moved there in 1914. Both are buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.
William Chinn died at the age of 28 on November 16, 1900 at his home in Rock Creek. He had been married for four years to Elizabeth Stevens (May 19, 1897) and had two small children. He is also buried at Mitchell.
