Mrs. George Kuehl Rites Sat., Feb 12
Mrs. Bertha Augusta Wilhelmina Kuehl was born January 21, 1873 at Bedford, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of William Adrian and his wife, Bertha nee Trettin. Baptized at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin in early infancy, she came with her parents to Mitchell County, Iowa during childhood and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 20, 1891, at Grafton, Iowa, by the Rev. Otto Nitardy. In early youth she left her parental home to seek gainful employment and assist in providing the necessities of life in her parental home. On November 21, 1900 she was united in marriage to Geo. Kuehl of near Carpenter, Iowa. For four years they made their home in Northwood, Iowa and then came to live in St. Ansgar, where they continued to live the remainder of her life.
One daughter Emma was born to them.
Mrs. Kuehl was a faithful helpmate to her husband and a devoted mother. Used to the hardships of life she assumed more and more the tasks associated with the household when her husband became disabled because of a leg fracture a little over a year ago. She appeared to enjoy good health until last Friday, when an upset internal condition induced her to seek medical aid. Monday afternoon her condition was very grave because of what appeared to be an ailing heart. Last Tuesday she was taken to the Cedar Valley hospital in an ambulance, for an examination because of a gall-stone attack. She spent a very quiet night in the hospital and died early Wednesday morning, February 9. A coronary ailment and gall stone attack lead to her death.
Mrs. Kuehl was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
The departed leaves to morn her passing, her beloved husband, George Kuehl, her daughter, Emma, Mrs. M. E. Guyer, one grandson Richard Charles; two brothers: Albert Adrian and Adolph Adrian of Belgrade, Minn., and four sisters, Alvina, Mrs. Ed Kleinworth, of Byron, Minn., Minnie, Mrs. Henry Bierman of Luck, Wis., Frances, Mrs. Frances Grap of St. Ansgar and Osage, and Matilda Adrian of Minneapolis, Minn.
