Tolline Oldsdatter Formo was born July 14, 1821 and was a professional seamstress.

She was married at the Heggen Church, Norderhov, Ringerike, Norway to Lars Trulsen Ask, and in April 1851 they sold the farm and with their two children, Maren and Ole, immigrated to America settling at Rock Prairie, Wisconsin. With oxen and covered wagon they moved to Lookingglass Prairie, Minnesota, in the spring of 1853. From there they moved to Highland, Fillmore County, Minnesota, and eventually bought a farm near Mitchell, Iowa. The farm was later purchased by a grandson, Lawrence Ask.

Lars and Tolline were among the early members of the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Lars died March 27, 1902 and Tolline died June 10, 1903. They are buried** at the old Lutheran Cemetery south of St. Ansgar.

Lars and Tolline were the parents of seven children: Ole, Mitchell, Iowa; Andreas, Salem, Oregon; Maren, Mrs. Ole D. Haugerud, Bagley, Saskatchewan; Lisa, Mrs. Rasmus Vigness, Grafton, North Dakota; Annie, Mrs. G.G. Gilbertson, St. Ansgar, Iowa; Karen, Mrs. Olavus O. Krogstad, Osage, Iowa; and Anton, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
