William Pint

William Pint was born April 21, 1867 to Anthony (Anton) and Margaret (Johanns) Pint in Chicago, Illinois. Anton was born in Rhine, Germany and. Margaret in Luxemburg, Germany. The site where William was born was later the location of the Cook County Courthouse. In 1869 Anton and Margaret, with their young family, moved to Iowa settling on a farm east of New Haven. Anton died on February 9, 1905 at age 74 and Margaret in April 1873.

William married Anna Gilles, daughter of Nikolas and Anna (Weber) Gilles November 28, 1889 at New Haven, St. Peter’s Church, Mitchell County, Iowa.

William and Anna Pint began their married life in Adams Township in southern Minnesota near Johnsburg. About 1897 they moved to Mitchell County to a farm near Riceville and later to one northwest of New Haven.

They were members of St. Peter’s Church in New Haven. William’s parents were among the early members, attending whenever the itinerant priests visited the area. The Church was built in 1877.

Ten children were born to William and Anna; Leo, Frank, Laura, (Sister Mary Salome), Frances, (Mrs. Hans Hanson), Albert, Mary. (Mrs. Nicholas Adams), Clement, Edward, Carmella and Mildred. (The latter two died as infants.)

Anna died December 16, 1923. William moved to Everton, Missouri in 1925 where he married Henrietta Jones. His death occurred on August 8, 1951 at Springfield, Missouri. His burial was at New Haven.
