Killed When
Struck by Car

MITCHELL, IOWA — Carol Lee Fischer, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fischer of Mitchell, was killed about 7:45 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a car in front of the Faith Lutheran Church at Mitchell.

According to authorities, Miss Fischer and a friend, Dorothy Weldin, 17, of Mitchell, were walking along the side of the road, headed east.

Also headed east was a car driven by William Suchy, 55, of Mitchell. The Suchy car met another car and pulled to the side of the road, not seeing the girls and struck the Fischer girl. Miss Fischer died instantly of a broken neck.

Approximately $100 damage was done to the right front fender of the Suchy car.

The accident was investigated by Osage deputy sheriff, Curtis Younker and Clifford Lewis, MItchell town marshal. No charges have been filed.

Miss Fischer was a sophomore at the Osage Community High School.

Survivors include her parents; three brothers, Dennis, 14, John, 13, and Lynn, 6 all at home.

Services are pending at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage.

ITEM 2:

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday March 6, 1969 at 2pm for Carol Lee Fischer, 16, who died Monday evening as a result of an auto accident infront of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. The Rev. William Kamke, pastor, will be in charge of the rites at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Arrangements are by C.R. Champion & Sons and burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.

Carol Lee Fischer was born in Cresco Iowa, April 6, 1952, the eldest child and only daughter of Clarence & Bonnie (Pederson) Fischer. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Cresco in her infancy. At the time of her death she was studying for confirmation at Faith Lutheran Church where she was also a member of the choir and of the Luther League. The family has lived in Mitchell about nine years at the time of her death.

Miss Fischer was a sophomore at Osage Community School and is survived by her parents and 3 brothers, Dennis, 14; John, 13; and Lynn, 6. Her grandparents, Mrs. Lyle Pederson of Cresco, Henry Fischer and Mrs. Henrietta Fischer of Castalia and one great grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Zeien of Decorah Iowa.
