Karen Marie Duncan, age 91, of Osage, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. There will be a time to greet the family and for refreshments and fellowship following services at the church.
Karen was born August 23, 1918, in Elma, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Hilling) Johnson. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1935. Karen married Wendell A. “WAD” Duncan on April 4, 1942 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Following the war, they returned to Osage and operated the Soda Grill for 16 years. Karen also worked in the school hot lunch program until her retirement. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Karen enjoyed church activities, reading and gardening.
Karen is survived by her son, James Duncan of Portland, Oregon; by her daughter, Janelle Duncan of Osage; and by her sister, Minerva (Merle) Hanson of Rochester, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wendell Duncan in 1998; by her son, Douglas Duncan; and by two brothers, Lester and Doyle Johnson.
