FUNERAL OF MYRTLE DUNCOMB JUNE 30
Myrtle Anna Duncomb, 88, of LeRoy, died at Comforcare Nursing Home on June 27, 1977. She was born near Frederika, Iowa on July 28, 1999 to William H. and Hattie (Simons) Lindfield.
On June 23, 1909, she was married to William H. Duncomb of Riceville, Iowa. They homesteaded in South Dakota near Viewfield, and moved back to the family farm in Chickasaw County, Iowa in 1916. They moved near Chester in 1924 where they lived for 24 years. They also farmed near Cresco and in Missouri, coming to make LeRoy their home in 1961.After rearing a large family she spent many years in nursing care of others in her home, including her husband in his declining years, he died in 1965.
They were parents of nine children, seven of whom survive; five daughters, Mrs. Everett (Inez) Norman of Austin; Mrs. Glen (Genevieve) Fairchild of Chester; Mrs. George (Jessie) Swain of Austin; Mrs. Einar (Luella) Unseth of Ortley, South Dakota; and Mrs. Howard (Lucille) Ness of Barron Wisconsin; and two sons; William H. Duncomb of Portland, Oregon, and Glenn Duncomb of Edgerton, Wisconsin.
She is also survived by one niece, Caryl Kelsey of New Hampton Iowa 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 30, 1977 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy with Rev. Herbert C. Young officiating. Mrs. John Jensen was the organist with Mrs. Ronald Babb the soloist. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, at Riceville, Iowa.
Casket bearers were; LaVerne Hansen, Floyd Larson, Harold Larson, Donald Olson, Harold Shipman and Lyle Soltau. The Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy was in charge of arrangements.
