JAMES ROBERT "JIM" PERRIN

OSAGE, IOWA - James "Jim" Perrin, 52, of Des Moines, and formerly of Osage, died Wednesday (June 30, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Jim was born August 18, 1946, in Osage, the son of Harold and Kathryn (Mapes) Perrin. He attended schools in Osage and graduated from Osage High School in 1964.

During high school Jim worked at the Sunny Brae Golf and Country Club, Osage, assisting his father as grounds keeper. Jim later worked for Hartwig Construction and L.R. Falk Construction, both in Osage.

Jim did live in Mason City for a period of time, and he worked at YWCA, the YMCA and at General Foods. In 1991 Jim moved to Des Moines and started working at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he had been working up until May 24, 1999, when he became ill. When he started working at Iowa Methodist he was a parking lot attendant, and for the past three years he has been a transporter for the hospital.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors and going for long walks. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and working crossword puzzle books.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery, Orchard, Mitchell county, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

James is survived by one sister, Mary Morris, Mason City; two brothers, Richard Perrin and his wife, Mary, Osage, and Ben Perrin and his wife, Donna, Burleson, Texas; an aunt, Lucille Boekemeir and her husband, Don, Rockford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Perrin, on Feb. 15, 1999; two nieces, Stacy and Michelle Perrin; a nephew, Paul Perrin; and one brother-in-law, Phil Morris.
