PIONEER OSAGE MERCHANT DIES
Harry Goplerud, 80,
Once City Postmaster
Osage, Iowa – Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Osage Lutheran church for Harry Goplerud, 80, who died Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sam Savre , with whom he had made his home for the past 10 years. In charge of the service will be the Rev. T. P. Solem, with burial in the Osage cemetery.
Harry Goplerud was born April 3, 1864, at Hedalen, Norway. At the age of 3, he came to Wisconsin with his parents, and the following year came to the Rock Creek community where he lived until 17 years of age. Then he engaged in business in Osage, finally forming a partnership with his brother, John, in the Goplerud department store for 35 years. He was postmaster in Osage for 10 years.
He married Dena Groth in 1890. She preceded him in death.
He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Sam Savre; one son Clifford, both of Osage; three sisters: Mrs. A. P. Fjelde of Osage, Mrs. E. Z. Larson, Minneapolis, and Guri Fjelde of Parkland, Wash.

Harald Christoffersen Goplerud was born April 3, 1864 at Goplerud, Hedalen, Oppland, Norway to Christoffer Christoffersen Goplerud and Kjersti Haraldsdatter Ormsrud the second of their eight children. He emigrated 1867 to Dane County, Wisconsin then moved 1869 to Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa.
Harald married Dina Petersdatter Groth on June 4, 1890 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
The couple had two children: Clifford Peter (August 28, 1891-January 26, 1978) and Anne Clarissa (March 26, 1893-November 24, 1976).
Harald Christoffersen Goplerud died January 2, 1945 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
