Lars H. Wamstad, 1850-1941

Lars H. Wamstad, a former resident of Cedar Township, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Geisz, near Muscoda, Wisconsin, Wednesday morning, July 16. He was past 91 years old.

Mr. Wamstad was born January 14, 1850 in Hadeland, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway, and came to the United States in 1871, settling in Mitchell County, Iowa.

He was married to Mathilda Brennan and they were the parents of five children, three of whom survive. His wife died in 1905.

Mr. Wamstad was a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church while he lived in Cedar Township. He was a farmer for several years and later took up carpenter work. Moving to Wisconsin in 1919, he had made his home with his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Geisz for many years.

Three daughters survive him: Mrs. Chris Borseth of Sheldon, Wisconsin, Mrs. Gena Adrian of Redfield, South Dakota, and Mrs. Arthur Geisz of Muscoda, Wisconsin. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services were held at the Geisz home at Muscoda on Thursday evening and short services were held at the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery, rural Osage, Iowa on Friday morning, with the Rev. O.C. Myhre officiating.
