OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Ella L Crosby, 82, died Tuesday at her home in the Lincke apartments on West Main Street, Osage. She suffered a paralytic stroke six years ago from which she never recovered.
Funeral tentatively set for Thursday afternoon at the Champion Funeral home. Burial will be in Osage cemetery.
She was born May 7, 1866 to M. S. and Marietta (Folsom) Stacy in Wisconsin. As an infant she accompanied her parents to Mitchell, where her parents managed store, and later came to Osage where her father founded the Stacy department store. She married Charles Crosby in 1885. The couple lived in Osage, Chicago, New York, and St. Louis, Mo., where her husband died. She returned to Osage to establish her home with parents and a sister Florence.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. B. J. Sedina, LaJolla, Cal.; three sister, Mrs. Jesse Leiben, Coquille, Ore.; Mrs. Leland Smith and Florence Stacy of Osage; a brother, John F. Stacy, Rochester, Minn., and seven grandchildren. Preceding her also was a son, Harold Stacy Crosby.

MRS. ELLA L. CROSBY
Death came quietly to Mrs. Ella L. Crosby on Tuesday January 18, 1949, after seven years of suffering from paralysis. It was in 1942 that she was stricken, and from that time on, even in her helpless condition, she was wonderfully brave and patient, and always thoughtful of others.
Mrs. Crosby was a faithful member of the Congregational Church of Osage, uniting on April 24th 1892, and her death removes one of its earliest members from our church roll.
Mrs. Crosby had many distinctive talents, among them being in music, and her willingness to share it. For many years she had charge of the music in her church, and her ability to lead and direct the choir through the years, was richly rewarded.
She was a brilliant Bible student. She knew her Bible, and lived it day by day. Because of this, she was Superintendent of the Sunday School in the Congregational Church for many years, and her work in this connection brought note-worthy results.
Mrs. Crosby was a member of the P.E.O. Society, and for many years shared her talents as a valued member of the Sage Library Board.
Ella Crosby was born of pioneer parents, in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1866, the oldest child of Milton S. and Marietta Stacy. As a young child, she was brought with her parents to Mitchell, Iowa, the family afterwards moving to Osage, where she spent her childhood, attending the local schools here, and graduating from the Osage High School in 1882, in one of the very first classes which celebrated a graduating exercise.
After her marriage to Charles Crosby in 1885, she and her husband moved to Austin, Minnesota, and later to Chicago, New York City, and St. Louis, where her husband was engaged in business.
Following her husband's death in 1925, she returned to her parents' home here in Osage, remaining with them until after their death, and then she made her home with her sister, Miss Florence Stacy.
Two children were born to Mrs. Crosby and her husband, Harold Stacy Crosby, who passed away in Butte, Montana, and Mrs. Bert Sedina of La Jolla, California.
Besides her daughter, there remains to mourn her passing, three sisters: Mrs. Jessie M Lieben of Coquille, Oregon, mrs. Leland A. Smith of Osage, Miss Florence Stacy of Osage, and a brother, John, of Rochester, Minnesota, several grandchidlren, and one great-grandchild.
