Hold Funeral Rites for Truck Gardener
Fertile, Iowa - Funeral services for August Jordan, 50, were held at the Lutheran church Tuesday, the Rev. Benjamin Coltvet officiating. Burial was made in the town cemetery at St. Ansgar.
Mr. Jordan was stricken with a heart attack while at work in his vegetable garden, was found by some Mexican workers in the gardens and was taken to a hospital at Mason City where he died Saturday.
Born on a farm near St. Ansgar, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Jordan. He was married to Ernestine Brandt on May 3, 1931, lived on a farm near St. Ansgar for eight years and in 1939 moved to Fertile where he engaged in vegetable farming.
Survivors include the widow; daughter Deloris, a student at Waldorf college; son Raymond, a freshman in Fertile high school; three brothers: Ferdinand and George, St. Ansgar, and William of Live Oak, California; and four sisters: Mrs. Otto Bublitz and Mrs. Herman Krueger, both of Grafton; Mrs. Rudolph Pahl of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. F. G. Cross, of Fort Dodge.

According to August's Funeral Service Folder, he was born August 6, 1901, he died on September 22, 1951. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 25, 1951 at Fertile Lutheran Church, Fertile, Iowa. Glergyman was Rev. Benj. Coltvet, and interment was at St. Ansgar, Iowa.
