LITTLE CEDAR WOMAN DIES; RITES TUESDAY

Osage, Iowa - Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Shrode who died at her home near Little Cedar, Iowa, Saturday morning will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Little Cedar Methodist church. The Rev. Milton Nothdurff will officiate.

Mrs. Shrode was born November 18, 1878 at Spencer. She is survived by her husband, Charles Shrode, and two daughters, Ethel and Mrs. Dorothy Johnson at Little Cedar, and two sons, Milton of Little Cedar and Donald, of Mason City.

Alice Smith, daughter of George and Martha Smith, was born November 18, 1878 at Greenville, Iowa. She died June 30, 1945, at the age of 67.

She spent her girlhood in Chester, Iowa. After attending normal training school at Mankato, Minnesota, she taught several yeawrs in rural schools in Howard county.

On March 18, 1903, she was united in marriage to Charles Shrode. To this union four children were born.

She has been a faithful member of the Methodist Church in Riceville since 1920.

In 1913 she suffered a severe illness which handicapped her the remaining years of her life. She was confined to a wheel chair for the last eight years of her life. He daughter, Ethel, left her job for the past six months to be with her mother.

Mrs. Shrode's mother, father and three sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband; four children: Donald of Mason City, Milton of Riceville, Ethel of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Little Cedar; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Fanny Johnson of Lime Springs; and two brothers, Walter Smith of Monona and Dale Smith of Austin, Minnesota.

Services were held at the Little Cedar Church on Tuesday, July 3. Burial was in the Riceville Cemetery.
