Fred Steiger of Stacyville died
Funeral services were held Monday morning at Visitation Catholic Church in Stachville for fred Steiger, 94. He died June 21 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home where he had been a resident since December, 1972.
The Reverend Robert J. Reiss celebrated the funeral Mass and conducted graveside services in the Visitation Cemetery. Hatten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Fred Steiger was born November 28, 1885, to Frank Sr. and Monica Smith Steiger on the family farm north of Stacyville, the youngest of 11 children.
His marriage to Emma Weninger took place on October 17, 1911 at Sacred Heart Church in Adams. They farmed north of Stacyville and he spent his entire life in the Stacyville community.
To this union four children were born: Alfred of Osage; (Viola) Mrs. Richard Blaser, Stacyville; (Bertha) Mrs. Fred Brown of Rose Creek; and Eugene who died in 1951.
His wife preceded him in death in April of 1945. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Steiger was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters in Stacyville.
