----------------------------------
BODY OF CARRIE SERGENT BROUGHT HERE FROM NEW MEXICO FOR BURIALThe body of Miss Carrie Sergent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron D. Sergent, of Waterloo, former residents of Nashua, arrived in Waterloo Sunday morning and Undertaker Lundt went to that city and brought the body to Nashua where funeral services were held at the Little Brown Church, Rev. Wm. H. Kent officiating at 2:00 p.m. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
The body was accompanied by Mrs. Walter Leslie, of Gladbrook, Iowa a sister of the deceased and the parents drove through in their car.
Deceased was born near New Hampton, Iowa June 25, 1906, and had lived at Nashua, McIntire and Waterloo.
After completing a course in the graded schools she graduated from the Pauls Academy of Beauty Culture at St. Paul, Minn., and took up that line of work, having a shop at Waterloo and it was while working at that place that she became a victim of tuberculosis. She entered the sanitarium at Oakdale, and one year ago last September, accompanied by her mother, she went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the hope that climate would restore her health.
Last spring Mr. Sergent joined his wife and daughter at Albuquerque and the sick daughter was given every possible comfort that a loving father and mother could give.
She is survived by the parents, one brother, Titus Sergent, of Crystal Lake, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Leslie and Mrs. A. W. Harrison of Gladbrook, Iowa.
We wish to express our sincere appreciation to our lodge brothers and to our other friends for the many deeds of kindness and words of sympathy extended to us and for the beautiful floral offerings sent at the time of the death of our beloved daughter and sister.
