Esther Ruth (Priem) Rosenberg was born on September 12, 1903, on the family farm in Newburg Township west of St. Ansgar. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Louise (Gerlach) Priem. Esther and her twin sister, Edna, were the youngest of 11 children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. Esther's father died when she was six years old and the children all helped their mother to continue farming. Esther received her early education in the Newburg school and graduated from Carpenter High School in 1922. She enjoyed playing basketball during her high school days.

Esther married Lawrence Rosenberg on October 23, 1927, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Township. They made their home in St. Ansgar where Lawrence drove the Co-op Oil tank wagon for many years. Esther worked in the local variety store for several years. Together they enjoyed gardening. Lawrence and Esther were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Lawrence passed away on April 20, 1978.

Esther was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and other children in the community. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents; six brothers and four sisters. Her twin sister, Edna Brandt, died on May 8, 2001.

Esther is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Jean and her husband, Jerrold Eide, of Mason City, and their children, Marcia (Randy) Hinrichs, of Lisbon, Larry (Barb) Eide, of Mason City, and Carol (Stan) Horsfall, of Mason City; and Gloria and her husband, Newlin Jensen, of St. Ansgar and their children, Sue (Mike) Urbatsch, of Manly, Greg (Donna) Jensen, of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Steve (Marla) Jensen, of Seattle, Washington.
