Peter MichelsFuneral services were held Saturday morning for an Osage resident, Peter Michels, 89, who died February 7, 1980, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Reverend Jacob Roth, pastor, was in charge of the rites at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons and burial was in the church cemetery.
Peter Matthew Michels was born on a farm near Orchard August 24, 1890, the son of Matt and Barbara Lentz Michels. He grew to manhood near New Haven.
Gertrude Kleckner and Peter Michels were married October 1, 1912. They established their home near New Haven, retiring to Osage in 1930. He drove truck for the Marshall Truck Line until he was 80 years of age. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had been a resident of the White House of Osage since 1974.
Surviving are one son, Jerry Michels of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Michels of rural Osage; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife Gertrude; two daughters, Marion Krahenbuhl and Norma Fritz; his parents, four sisters and three brothers.
