Wilbur F. Boynton

W. F. Boynton died Tuesday morning at his home in the Second Ward, after a lingering illness. For several years Mr. Boynton's health had been failing and he was more and more confined to his home. Recently it became apparent that the end was near. He was nearly 86 years old.

Wilbur F. Boynton, son of David and Lydia Boynton, of Westfield, Vermont, was born June 8, 1845. He was married January 8, 1868, to Abbie F. Brown at Hyde Park, Vermont, and came the following fall to Mitchell County, Iowa, driving across country to Ogdenburg, N. Y., thence by boat to Milwaukee, Wisconsin; again driving across country to Mitchell County.

After remaining about fourteen months, he returned to Vermont, and again came to Mitchell County in 1879, where he has made his home since. After living about ten years on farms in the vicinity, he came to Osage where he has been a resident for forty years or more.

He is survived by Mrs. Boynton, one daughter, Mrs. Flora Ross, and two sons, Thomas, of Forest City, and David F., of Waterloo. One son, Clinton, passed away in Florida some years since. Five granddaughters, Mrs. Joseph Wagner, of Greene, Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Parkhurst, of Mitchell; Mrs. Bessie Tillett, of Hatfield, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Olive Winindinger, of Norfolk, Virginia; Mrs. Mary Bass of Stewartville, Florida; one grandson, Robert Boynton, of Fort Pierce, Florida; also nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, T. J. Boynton, of Arlington, Mass., and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Farman, of South Craftsbury, Vermont.

Mr. Boynton since his residence in Osage, has worked very largely at the carpenter trade, having been associated for a number of years with the late Olvier [Oliver?] Cole.
