Jean Spaanum Dead
After Long IllnessThe community was saddened indeed, to learn of the death of Jean Spaanum, eldest daughter of Mrs. Laura Spaanum, who passed away Monday at midnight, after a long illness.
Jean had been frail since birth, and about a year ago submitted to a major operation. No hope for a complete recovery was entertained since that time, and her strength has gradually failed during the past few months..
Jean Spaanum was born at Osage on March 10, 1913, and passed away at her home here on April 13, 1931.
She was the daughter of Carl H. Spaanum and Laura Bruch Spaanum. Her father preceded her in death in September, 1923.
Her eighteen years of life were spent in this city. She attended the public school as long as her health would permit. Although handicapped by physical obstacles she lived a patient, conscientious and helpful life. She devoted herself to her home and her friends, and was quiet, unassuming and generous.
She was baptized in the Methodist church in infancy, uniting with the church June 29, 1925, and attended the Sunday school and other services diligently.
She leave to mourn her going her mother and sister, Julia, her grandmother, Mrs. Sever Spaanum, and other relatives in the rush and Spaanum families, besides a large circle of friends who have felt the touch of her friendship and kindness in the short span of her earthly pilgrimage.
