Rites held for
Mrs. Mary Freund

Funeral rites were held Thursday morning for Mrs. Mary Freund, 96, who died March 11, at the Stacyville Nursing Home. The Reverend Thomas Carpenter, pastor and the Reverend Francis Heimerman were in charge of the funeral mass at Meyer Sacred Heart Church and burial was there. Arrangements were by Hatten Funeral Home.

Mary Ginsterblum was born near Stacyville September 7, 1883, the daughter of Mathias and Margaret Reding Ginsterblum. Her marriage to John Freund took place October 3, 1906. They resided all their married life in Meyer.

Her husband died in 1963. Others preceding her in death were one daughter, her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are four sons, Stephen of Adams, Lawrence of Meyer, Dr. Oswald Freund of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Joseph Freund of Osage; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hanson of Rochester and Mrs. Leonard Brandel (Catherine) of Dubuque; 29 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
