Death of James M. Starr.
The funeral services of James M. Starr were held at the M. E. church, yesterday morning at half past ten o'clock, Rev. E. J. Lockwood preaching the sermon. The deceased was the son of Mrs. Mary Starr who has been a resident of Osage for the past eighteen years. He was born at Mystic Bridge, Connecticut, on the 6th day of August, 1866, and died in this city on the 21st day of April, 1895, aged 28 years, 8 months and 15 days. James was always a well behaved and manly young fellow, the pride of his mother and the strong arm on which she leaned for support and comfort. He was steady and industrious and liked to be at home better than anywhere else.
For several years he had charge of the electric light plant, where he won and held the entire confidence of his employers.
In November 1893, while erecting new poles, he fell from one of them and received serious injuries. Although he got able to do some work again and helped to put the new plant in operation, he never became strong as he had been before the accident occured. Some three months ago he was compelled to quit work and since then he failed rapidly, his injuries terminating in quick comsumption. His death occured on Sunday afternoon. The lonely mother who is now bereft of all her family will have the sincere sympathy of many friends.
