C. Dale Johnson, 77, Osage, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly.
Funeral services were Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery.
Dale was born on June 20, 1924, near Carpenter, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Parker) Johnson. He attended Carpenter School until his junior year and then graduated from Orchard Consolidated School in 1942.
He became a member of the Meroa Rock Creek Lutheran Church in 1947. On March 19, 1950, he married Marjorie Kittleson at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. They then resided in Otranto for five years where Dale farmed, later moving west of Osage where he farmed for 29 years, until 1985 when he retired and they moved to Osage.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, of 51 1/2 years; six children, Robert D. Johnson and friend, Karen Lenz, Larry E. Johnson and his wife, Lynda, LaVonne G. Freund and husband, Galen, James S. Johnson and wife, Jody, Richard A. Johnson and wife, Mary Jo, and Donald L. Johnson and his wife, Barb, all of Osage; five sisters, Eleanor Schallock, of Osage, Margaret Olsen, of Osage, Mildred Sponheim, of Nora Springs, Carol McLaughlin, of Belmond, and Sharon Boyce, of Roseville, MN; four brothers, Charles Johnson, of Osage, Harley Johnson, of Osage, Ivan Johnson, of Osage, and Keith Johnson, of Fort Dodge; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Florence Borcherding and one brother, Kenneth Johnson.

OSAGE - C. Dale Johnson, 77, of 825 N. Nursery Ave. in Osage, died Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2002) at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Dale was a good father and friend who enjoyed watching his family grow up and going to all the sporting events of his grandchildren.
Dale will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, his wife, Marjorie, of 511/2 years; six children, Robert D. Johnson and friend, Karen Lenz, Larry E. Johnson and his wife, Lynda, LaVonne G. Freund and husband, Galen, James S. Johnson and wife, Jody, Richard A. Johnson and wife, Mary Jo, and Donald L. Because of Dale's love of children, we wish for others to benefit from his love. The family asks that memorials be given to the scholarship fund at Our Savior's Lutheran Church or the Osage High School Track Fund.
