Earl A. Ahrens

OSAGE, IOWA - Earl A. Ahrens, 98, of Osage, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, with The Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery rural Osage.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Earl was born on Jan. 26, 1912, in Osage, the son of Richard and Alma (Frese) Ahrens. He graduated from Osage High School.

In 1948, Earl built the Starlight Roller Rink in Osage, and operated it until the mid-1960s.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. Earl enjoyed roller skating, fishing and gardening.

Earl is survived by three nephews, Richard (Rosella) Krahn, of Osage; Gene (Katrina) Krahn of Mitchell; and Ronald (Suzanne) Krahn of Osage; one niece, Myrna Hoisington of Orchard; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alda (Ahrens) Krahn; and an infant sister, Erna Marie Ahrens.
