OSAGE, Iowa - Jayne Heise, 54, of Osage, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2000) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Keystone Cemetery, Keystone.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, with an Alpha Delta Kappa educators' sorority memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Jayne Heise was born Aug. 29, 1945, in Vinton, the daughter of Wayne and Evelyn (Kirkman) Ohde. She graduated from Van Horne High School in 1963, and was a member of its state championship basketball team. In 1967, she graduated from Upper Iowa University of Fayette.

She married out of college and started her teaching career in Omaha, Neb. She raised her children while living in Seattle, Wash., and Iowa City, moving to Osage in 1977.

She returned to elementary teaching in 1987. She helped develop the Talented and Gifted Program at Osage Community Schools, and had taught kindergarten since 1994. She was active in the development of three women's adult softball leagues and the children's T-ball leagues of Osage. She also dedicated a lot of her time to attending her children's athletic events. She was an active member of the Osage Booster Club and was statistician for the Osage High School girls volleyball team. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority.

She will be remembered as the most nurturing and cohesive element of her family. She will be greatly missed, and remembered often. Comfort lies in her memory, and her spirit, which will be with us always.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jayne Heise Memorial Fund.

Survivors include a daughter, Heather Jayne Heise, Rochester, Minn.; three sons, Robert H. Heise III and his wife, Julie, and their children Madison, Jayne and Alexa Renee of Olathe, Kan., Richard W. Heise and his wife, Christine, and their children, Matthew Joseph and Samuel Robert, of Rochester, Minn., and Ryan J. Heise and his wife, Erica, of Minneapolis.; a maternal grandmother, Helen Kirkman-Thompson of Vinton; and a brother, Dale Ohde and his wife, Andrea, and their daughter Jade, of Vail, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Evelyn Ohde, and an infant sister, Diane Kaye Ohde.
