OSAGE, IOWA - Evelyn Fern Jeffries, 94, of Davenport, died Thursday (June 3, 2010) at Crest Health Care, Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge, Davenport. She will be laid to rest in Osage, where a committal service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church or to Meal Service of Scott County.

Evelyn was born in 1916 in Osage. She attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City, and began her professional career with the Ottumwa Gas Company in Ottumwa. Later, when the Ottumwa Gas Company became part of Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, Evelyn moved to the Quad Cities. Evelyn retired from Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company in 1981 after 42 years of service. Evelyn was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Davenport, where she sang in the choir for many years.
