Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Rollin Tubbs, 44, of Osage who died July 7 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital after an illness of five years.

The Rev. Lyle Norris, pastor, performed the rites at the Congregational Church. Burial was in the Osage City Cemetery, and arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons.

Rollin Ray Tubbs was born November 15, 1930 in Osage, the son of Ray and Bessie Button Tubbs. He graduated from Osage High School in 1949. As a young man he assisted his father as an operator of the Osage Municipal Power and Light Company from July 1949 until April 1, 1952, when he became a fulltime operator. In 1968 he became superintendent of the diesel plant at the Osage Municipal Utilities and remained in that capacity until his resignation May 3, 1975.

In August 1955, he took a leave of absence to serve in the United States Army. He spent 18 months in Germany, and was discharged in July 1957. He also served as a part time mail carrier until 1955.

Helen Irene Angell and Mr. Tubbs were united in marriage June 19, 1955 at the Baptist church here. He was baptized in his youth at the Baptist church and filled the following positions in the church: trustee, board of education, secretary of the Sunday school for many years, church monitor and as finance chairman. In 1970 he became a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational) and served on the board of trustees and as finance chairman. In both churches he was a member of the choir.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; three children, Kimberly Rae, 17, Kevin Rollin, 15, and an adopted son, Craig, 4 ½ years; four sisters, Mrs. Mel Warner (Betty) of Davenport, Mrs. John Tesar (Shirley), Mrs. Bill Gardner (Kathryn), and Miss Grace Tubbs of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Mrs. James Appleton (Helen), Mrs. Cyril Cornwell (Marion); and one brother, Merlyn Tubbs.

Memorials will be given to the Mayo Clinic Medical Research Foundation in Rochester.
