Will H. Torney, 1869-c1935

Will H. Torney, one of the best known farmers of the community, passed away this morning at 3 o'clock, following a final illness of only a few days. He suffered a stroke of paralysis last Friday, from which he could not rally. Mr. Torney had been in poor health for the past several years, however.

Will H. Torney, son of Richard and Elizabeth Law-Torney, was born in Dane county, Wisconsin, September 3, 1869, and came with his parents to this county when 1 year old, settling in Rock township, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On March 11, 1896, he married Hattie Fessenden, and to this union two children were born: Cecil Roy, who died in infancy, and Leslie Maurice, who survives.

Mr. Torney united with the Rock Baptist church in 1898 and later with the Baptist church in Osage.

He operated a farm nine miles west of Osage for many years and raised pure-bred Brown Swiss cattle.

Surviving are the widow and son; also two brothers, Edward and Albert R. Torney.

Funeral services will be held at the Shelledy Funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m., in charge of the Rev. John D. Kern, pastor of the Osage Baptist Church.
